Built upon over 95 years of experience in the baby industry, Kaliedy offers parents-to-be and families a simplified shopping experience, tailored to suit all their needs and is also the exclusive stockist of the Early Learning Centre toys in Ireland. Kaliedy was born in 2020 at the hands of Ben Ward, one of the former owners of Mothercare Ireland. When Mothercare Ireland ceased to be, Ben decided to turn to the online landscape and start afresh, creating Ireland’s first baby and nursery digital-only retailer.
Kaliedy’s aim is to be the trusted first choice for modern Irish families. As a baby/nursery brand, there is a huge opportunity to gain and retain customers for years. Not only was there a challenge to set themselves apart, but, there was also a global pandemic to grapple with. With future ambitions to scale internationally, Kaliedy also required the ability to accept payments without complications. Kaliedy needed a platform that would allow them to quickly and easily update content, manage disrupted supply chains and replicate the in-store experience, and a payment partner that would allow them to scale without friction. No easy feat even in precedented times.
On top of that, the global pandemic has changed consumer expectations for good. With Amazon leading the charge, speed and convenience are critical success drivers for eCommerce businesses. Not only do they have to consider fulfilment capabilities and service challenges, they need to make paying easy. In fact, when done right, payments can become a strategic advantage by streamlining the checkout process and actively growing conversions.
Typically, baby and nursery products are tried and tested in-store before they are purchased to ensure a good fit. When launching, Kaliedy’s aim was to overcome the ‘see before you buy’ approach to shopping and it, therefore, chose to work with Kooomo and Adyen in order to ensure an optimised user experience was provided, from browsing products right through to checkout. To counteract that lack of physical presence, Kaliedy needed an agile customer service portal. This includes a Zendesk system integrated into the website which funnels all customer service queries with WhatsApp messages included – which has generated a positive response in their audiences. People who have product queries or delivery queries are getting an immediate response which helps combat the lack of a store infrastructure. Kooomo’s seamless connection to Adyen makes adding new payment methods a breeze. In addition to cards, Kaliedy now supports Paypal, Apple Pay, and Google pay. The CMS allowed Kaliedy to inject as much context into their products as possible, meaning parents could shop confidently with them and return again and again. Despite the pandemic, logistics were managed carefully within the platform - with a successful next-day delivery promise in Ireland maintained.
Kaliedy witnessed a 127% increase in transactions and 162% increase in revenue from its initial three months to the second three months after launching their website with Kooomo and processing payments with Adyen. Kaliedy maintains great communications with their customers and can rest assured that their “Next-Day Delivery” promise will always hold firm with our logistical support. Kooomo offers retailers the security of knowing that they are future-proofed – so whether they’re switching from bricks and mortar to online, or growing internationally, the pain points that come with structural changes are managed with ease.
