Highlights from Netcomm Forum Milan
Nearly 12,000 visitors attend one of Europe's biggest digital commerce events. Kooomo Business Development Manager, Laura Ricci, shares her views from Milan.

It was so nice to be back in my home city for Netcomm Forum in sunny Milan. I was there for one of Europe’s biggest events dedicated to digital transformation. There were nearly 12,000 merchants, retailers and digital commerce professionals from all over the world ready to see the latest solutions available on the market to help build and grow their online business.

It was a really busy couple of days showcasing our cloud commerce platform and it was fantastic to be joined on the Kooomo stand with our partners J-Service and Marketing Km Zero .

As well as being a great networking opportunity, Netcomm Forum was a brilliant place for informative conferences and workshops.

Kooomo Director of Business Development, Gaetano D’Auria, together with J-Service Chief Innovation Officer, Valentino Caporizzi, presented to a packed house on day one of the event and outlined 3 key elements that will guide digital commerce transformation of the future:

  1. Simplified Technology
  2. A ‘Stand-Out’ Strategy
  3. Customer Journey

An article on InternetRetailing earlier this year referred to the fact that a large percentage of holiday shopping on Amazon occurred on mobile devices. With sales on mobile continuing to rise, unified online and offline consumer journeys, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), one thing is for certain – commerce is changing rapidly.

In order to negotiate the changing climate, Gaetano shared some of the benefits of utilising a SaaS cloud platform:

  • Scalability
  • Flexibility
  • Fast time to market
  • Total cost of ownership

There has been a shift towards cloud-based digital commerce platforms. It was really interesting to see how many businesses are looking to address the difficult issues (and costs) often associated with servers, maintenance and infrastructure which allow them to concentrate on their brand and focus on consumer journeys.

With that extra budget, businesses can look to invest in digital marketing services such as search engine optimisation (SEO), Google AdWords and pay-per-click (PPC) management, social media, email and loyalty marketing.

All in all it was brilliant to meet so many people from the ecommerce world and we had a great reaction on the stand. I learned so much from everyone I spoke to and can't wait for next year!
